Hello there. Thanks for stopping by!
I’m Sheila Kimball.
God-lover. Wife. Mom. Brand new grandma!
Certified marriage mentor. Certified SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts) facilitator. Former Celebrate Recovery group leader for women. Former peer mentor for Love INC. Tea drinker. Dark chocoholic. Baseball fan. Outdoor adventurer. Writer.
While I’ve been called a “soul coach” by those who have benefitted from my mentoring, I am simply a wounded healer who by the grace of God survived divorce, abuse, family-of-origin alcoholism and the consequences of my own poor choices along with other dark chapters of life. I’ve learned a lot along a rocky path and God set me free from a shattered past into a brand new present that is every bit a glorious gift!
And from the broken pieces of my life God has created a beautiful mosaic of hope, help and healing for you.
I’m so glad you’re here and invite you to become part of this community today.
Who my mentoring can help –
As a mentor, author and blogger who is passionate about God-given spirit-soul-body healing, my words encourage and challenge individuals and couples who are ready to do the work of growing and changing, putting in the time, effort and self-sacrifice required. Women, couples and men like you who understand that our ultimate healing comes from a relationship with God who loves us best of all. And that by seeking Him and His kingdom first, everything else will eventually fall into place.
Sheila Kimball Mentoring also helps those who are struggling with or recovering from adultery, divorce, abuse, family of origin issues, single parenting stresses, the empty nest and personal sinfulness. Those who are desperate for healing from past as well as present issues. Those who seek the freedom forgiveness brings — choosing to forgive others and self. Those who long to go on into the Jeremiah 29:11-13 future that is God’s good plan by letting go of everything that holds them back.
Helping those who want to be true disciples become like Christ, and in the becoming become increasingly free, falling more deeply in love with Jesus every step of the way. Loving God through heart-changing obedience to His Word and Way.
I am here to cheer and guide you on your way! I’ve been there, done that, survived and now thrive! And I will mentor you with heart — from the heart of God’s Word via my heart to your heart — offering you solace, the wisdom hindsight brings and a hearty dose of encouragement to not give up.
Now it’s your turn to begin your journey into wholeness through increasing personal holiness which brings peace and happiness. Sheila Kimball Mentoring helps you navigate and heal the rough patches in your life through one-on-one confidential phone conversations where I listen to your heart, guide you with God’s word, share from my experiences and pray for you. I’m only a phone call away. You can find all the details and request a free session here.
Why I began my mentoring practice –
For decades it’s been my burning passion to see hearts healed and lives and marriages changed through a relationship with God in Jesus Christ. To know His love that sets us free and frees us from our fears. A love that came to save us from our sins, transforming our lives so that we might know God’s abundant love, mercy, peace and power. I am never more blessed than by helping people heal their hearts and mend their marriages and lives. For no matter what has happened to you or what you may have done, know this:
GOD LOVES YOU!
And be assured that He will never stop loving you, never leave you. He’s not like the parents you may have had or the partner who abused or abandoned you. God longs for a relationship with you where you spend time daily with Him. His love setting you free from whatever holds you back whether you are a lifelong Christian or someone with lots of questions about God. As you grow in God’s love and learn to love Him and others better, you will reveal God’s glory in a beautiful and mysterious way that draws others to Himself.
What I blog about –
Marriage — both wonderful ones and those that are wounded. About the overwhelming joy that a marriage in Christ brings and about how much more difficult marriage and life is when we don’t allow God to be Lord of all. How truly making Jesus the most important Person in your life and letting His love fill you completely has a powerful, positive impact on you, your marriage and those you love, leaving a legacy that can impact generations to come.
Healing — from past wounds that began in childhood, and present day hurts; daddy or mommy issues; domestic spousal abuse; recovering from divorce or searching for love in all the wrong places. Healing for the hurts that hold you back. How choosing to forgive and receiving God’s forgiveness sets you free. How changing your thoughts brings healing and adds joy to your days. How surrender and submission to God brings the life you long for.
Faith — Knowing God like never before and how it helps you in every area of your life. Understanding in the fiber of your soul that you are loved, wanted. That you belong! You are not an orphan. And God has good plans and a purpose for your life, marriage, relationships, family.
Parenting — At times I’ve shared encouragement from my past experiences as a single mom for many years, and as a woman who has transitioned through the empty nest, dried her tears and moved into a new stage of life filled with passion and purpose both in my marriage and ministry.
I wrote this book to help you heal –
Heart Cry: 40 Reflections for a Woman’s Soul is based in the Psalms, a book in the Bible that helped me not only survive the dark seasons but emerge from them victorious. If you or someone you know is walking through a chapter of hurt, loss or fear from divorce, abuse, broken relationships or one’s own poor choices, this book will provide encouragement. You can buy the book by clicking this link Heart Cry: 40 Reflections for a Woman’s Soul
And in progress…Heart Wise: Reflections for Growing Up in Wisdom. When we stand in awe of God and understand who He truly is we begin to grow in wisdom. Wisdom that protects us and is full of good fruit. For wisdom is a defense…that gives life to them that have it. (Ecc. 7:12)
About my marriage and family…
Our marriage is a example of God’s tenderhearted grace after years of pain, loss, abuse, guilt, shame, fear, bad choices and more than one divorce each. My Michael and I are grateful for another chance to do marriage His way for there is hope after divorce.
We exchanged vows on a lovely July morning after only 47 days of getting to know each other within the boundaries of a God-honoring relationship, a blessed first for both of us and so worth the wait!
Maybe it was crazy for a couple in their fifties — or perhaps anyone for that matter — to elope so quickly but we had a sure sense of God’s direction and a strong peace in moving forward. And the ensuing years since 2011 have confirmed we are God’s choice for each other!
We value and protect our marriage, investing in it to make it the best it can be. We most admire and appreciate our mutual commitment to God and our marriage, and our daily desire to love each other more sacrificially and unconditionally. That and possessing a pair of teachable spirits inside two sometimes strong willed partners! As God has and continues to bring wholeness through holiness into our own hearts our marriage grows sweeter and stronger one day at a time.
And this union we share spills over into the lives of my sons. For many years I raised my babies as a single mom. Just the four of us in that old house up on the hill. And my boys grew into men one moment at a time with some days easy and others hard as we shared laughter and losses. I made mistakes and asked forgiveness. But because Jesus was Husband and Father in our home we made it through. I never could have done any of it without Him. Today my sons are grown, pursing educations, careers, and lives and loves of their own. And one and his wife have blessed me with a new grand baby boy!
